I wanted to thank all of you for your hard work this term on Stone cold. You have approached this novel with interest and participated in all the acitivities with commitment and energy. I have been most impressed by the way you have developed in independent and group learning skills. Some of the work you have produced on the novel has been of a high standard.
The revision booklet on the characters was very good - try and learn from each other and also think about how many points you wrote down - keep the categories in your mind and always refer to the text for evidence. PEE is the key here.
Remember our READING agreement -
'There is no difference between those who can not read and those who do not read.'
Reading is the 'GOLDEN TICKET' to success in all subjects. It improves your vocabualry, your spelling / punctuation and extends your knowledge.
Over half-term, your homework is to read AT LEAST 10 MINUTES EVERYDAY. It does not matter what you choose to read but you need to be varied in selection. So have a variety of non-fiction and fiction. Also, go to the library or bookshop and see if you can find a book on a subject / topic that interests you. Remember, if you are interested in a subjectr, someone will have written about it!!! Find it and get reading.
First lesson back after half term, I will expect you all to report back on what you have read .... and also respond to this blog!!!!
I think that the work we hed been doing last term has been really fun and exciting
ReplyDeleteI think that the work we did was aslo fun and exciting but i think we should do stuff like watch films after we've read a story or other idea's other people have.
ReplyDeleteI read 'Wings By Terry Pratchett', and its about a group of nomes who are trying to get to Florida to get a Boat which is waiting for them to take them home. I found this book kind of interesting but not exciting so I would recommend this book to people who have either read Terry Pratchett books before or people who like adventure books.
ReplyDeleteI think the work has been fun but it would be good if we could watch the film.
ReplyDeleteI have been reading Cathy Cassidy it was good but took a while to get going.
i think the work has been raher good last term . i really want to watch the movie at some point though .
ReplyDeleteive been reading cookie i find it very god to read and i would recamend it to the girls in our cless .
I think that the work was good last term. I loved sitting on the bean-bags! Although, it would of been better to of watched a movie.
ReplyDeleteI'm reading Mates, Dates & Chocolate cheats as my book and it is good so far! :)
I have been reading Lewis Carrol's Alice in wonderland. It is quite slow and boring because I have heard of the story a lots already so I probebly won't read on any more so still searching for a book that I'll like. Also I loved the book Stone Cold it was great fun to read and a good book! I would really enjoy to watch the movie though!!!
ReplyDeleteI have been reading steven gerrards biorgraphy even though its got a bit of swearing its actually gives football players a hint to keep going and I would recomend it to football players over the age of 11

ReplyDeleteA book i would recommed is Stig of the dump by Clive King, this book is adventurous and very emotional! i would recommed it to 10-12 year olds.

ReplyDeleteEnglish homeless presantation:
ReplyDeleteI think our group could of found more information and also we could of practised our lines abit more. The presantation we watched was good but it could of been improved by saying a bit more, and speak clearly. But overall they had a good presantation. I thnik we will do well on this test!
I think my group, could of spoke more!
ReplyDeleteand on our powerpoint we spelt a few words wrong!
but apart from that i thought we all did quite well and worked as a team:)
I think you are all becoming much more aware of what you need to do to improve the quality of your presentations. You are absolutely right that detail from research really builds on what you are going to say - the more you know the more confident you are in getting your message across to your audience
ReplyDeleteWhat do you all think about media censorship and the 9pm watershed?? List on the blog your thoughts, ideas, questions and concerns. I would like you all to consider what this means - good and bad views as you need to get a range of points and ideas on this very important topic.
ReplyDeleteI would also like you to think about what you watch on TV / film - do you think it is appropriate or too 'young' for you? Do you agree with the whole idea of censorship or do you feel you are ready to watch more 'adult' programmes?
9pm Watershed:
ReplyDeleteI think that this is wrong because we should be able to watch reality. We will be living with these things that we may not want to see. But children under 7 shouldn't be able to watch programes like Eastenders and other inappropriate programs. This is a really hard subject. We should be warned before programs start. I think we are ready to watch adult programs. We are getting to that age. If we play video games that are 18+ i think that we should be able to watch TV programs that may concern afew people.
Thank you for the comment Tom. You are right, it is a really difficult & complex subject. There are many issues to consider and reflect upon. I hope that you all create some intersting posters for me this afternoon on certification of films. The discussion in class wasvery interesting this morning. Also, work on on developing the research into censorship on Monday & I will really look forward to seeing your progress on Tuesday. GOOD LUCK
